In India, mung bean which is popularly known as green gram or mung dal, has been used since early times for skin and hair cleansing by first grinding it into a fine powder. Just like gram flour, mung bean powder is used as a natural and effective non-foaming soap which can safely be used for people with sensitive skin and inflammatory skin conditions like patches. 1. Green gram Face Mask for Acne

The deep cleansing and exfoliating properties of green gram powder will help get rid of and prevent further acne. Coupled with yogurt, this green gram face mask will help cleanse, disinfect and soothe acne-prone skin.

Ingredients

  • 1 teaspoon green gram powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric
  • 1 teaspoons yogurt

Directions

In a bowl, mix all the ingredients till you get a creamy paste. Using clean fingers, gently apply this face mask mixture, avoiding the areas around the eyes and mouth. Leave the mask on for about 3 to 5 minutes or until it dries up completely. Use warm/tepid water to rinse off the mask completely.

2. Exfoliating green gram Face Mask

Simple but effective: Mix green gram powder and water to form a paste that will gently exfoliate your skin.Green gram has a mild abrasive texture that will gently exfoliate dead cells, sebum, flaky skin, grime and dirt from the skin’s surface. In this exfoliating face mask, we will only need green gram powder and water to get a thick paste.

Ingredients

  •  1 teaspoon of green gram powder
  •  1 ½ teaspoons of water

Directions

In a small bowl, add in the green gram powder and a add amount of water to get a thick paste. Make sure you use the required amount of water because too much water will make the face mask very drippy. Using clean finger, rub the thick face mask onto your skin in gentle circular motions. Leave it on until it dries up and rinse off with with cold water.

3. Anti-aging green gram Face Mask

This green gram face mask contains green tea which makes it an excellent anti-aging face mask. Applying green tea topically helps tighten, firm and lift skin. Green tea will also water and plump up dry skin, thereby making skin soft, smooth and youthful.

Ingredients

  •  1 teaspoon green gram powder
  •  1  teaspoons green tea

Directions

Add green gram powder in a small bowl and mix it with green tea to form a paste. Gently apply this paste onto your face using fingers. Wait for the face mask to dry up. When it dries up completely, rinse off with tepid water and pat dry.
